Our Speakers:


M. Ann Bachman
Ms. Bachman is the Director of the Regulatory Compliance Department for DoctorsManagement and the Executive Director for the American Association of Physician Offices and Laboratories (AAPOL). She has extensive experience in clinical testing, laboratory management and supervision, patient and employee education, marketing, customer service, and leadership.


She speaks nationally on regulatory compliance issues involving the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) of 1988, the HIPAA regulations, promote and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. As the Director of the Regulatory Compliance Department, Ann provides audits, training, and compliance manuals for doctors’ offices across the country, assisting them with their OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA compliance issues. She serves as the technical consultant for numerous pysican office laboratories and is also an advisor to other laboratory-oriented entities. Her articles have appeared in POL News, Advance for Laboratory Professionals, and the Tennessee Medical Association’s journal, Tennessee Medicine. She is a regular contributor to the AAPOL News newsletter and other trade journals. Ms. Bachman speaks at regional and national laboratory conferences such as the POL Symposium sponsored by COLA and the Wisconsin School of Medicine.


Ms. Bachman earned her B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee. She is professionally licensed as a Medical Technologist Supervisor by the state of Tennessee and as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She is a Certified Laboratory Consultant with American Medical Technologists and is a former president of the East Tennessee Society of Clinical Laboratory Science.
Prior to joining DoctorsManagement, she was the Laboratory Support Group Supervisor at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and served as the liaison to physicians’ offices and the hospital. She has also served as the Laboratory Supervisor for the VA Outpatient Clinic, overseeing the entire laboratory operation, including quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and patient education.



Mary Blount
Ms. Blount joined the DoctorsManagement OSHA-CLIA team in 2006 and is contributing her experience in lab management. She provides advice as a technical consultant, trains lab personnel, and guides physician offices with OSHA-CLIA compliance regulations.
Ms. Blount is experienced in managing a moderate-complexity lab, and currently is on a FEMA forensic team that responds to federal disasters involving loss of life. Her role on that team is DNA testing and information resources. She responded recently to the Katrina disaster.


Ms. Blount earned her B.S. degree from Mississippi State University, and she is licensed as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist. Ms. Blount also has experience in industrial Chemistry, and has completed Hazmat training.



Virginia Grace, B.S.
Virginia Elise Grace currently owns and operates Kokopelli’s Nature, using original art to promote environmental appreciation and education. She has worked extensively in biological and environmental projects and education with TVA, VDOT, and engineering and conservation firms throughout the United States. 

Virginia served as a guest lecturer at Lynchburg College and has provided educational presentations for numerous governmental agencies. She attended nursing school at Grays Harbor College and graduate school at the University of Tennessee. Her degree is in biology and her post graduate work is in ecology. She completed eight years of military experience and completed a wetland delineation training program through Army Corps of Engineers and the University of Washington Extension Program.


Ms. Grace currently serves as an OSHA speaker for Cross Country Education, Inc, through DoctorsManagement.


 

Deborah Hatcher, MS, CMPM
Deborah is an OSHA Specialist with DoctorsManagement. She has over 17 years of OSHA experience. Ms. Hatcher has a background in medical training, facility/practitioner credentialing, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Additionally, she has a background in instructional design, having developed continuing education courses and training manuals for OSHA Compliance, Health and Safety, and Organizational Effectiveness. 

Deborah earned her B.A. degree in Psychology in 1990 and obtained a Master of Science degree in Technological and Adult Education in 1994, both from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She is also a Certified Medical Practice Manager through DoctorsManagement, LLC.



Michelle Hill, MS, MT (ASCP) SLS
Michelle is a CLIA/OSHA Specialist with DoctorsManagement as well as with her own business, Technology Consultant Services in Memphis, Tennessee. Ms. Hill has extensive experience as an instructor at UTCHS in the Medical Technologist Program and instructs for the MLT and Phlebotomy program at Southwest Tennessee Community College. Ms. Hill is licensed as a Medical Technologist the State of Tennessee and certified as Medical Technologist and a Specialist in Laboratory Safety through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), as well as registered as a Certified Laboratory Consultant with American Medical Technologists. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), a board member for the Volunteer chapter of Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA) and the American Association of Physician Offices and Laboratories.
