Boost Productivity with Protocols
Is your workday plagued with continuous interruptions?
If you find that your staff comes to you with the same questions over and over, do them (and yourself!) a favor and create simple documents that serve as protocols. Once you create protocols, encourage your staff to keep them accessible. Ask your staff if they have referenced the protocol document before answering their questions. This will help them to create a habit of referencing the protocols.
Keep your protocols simple and on one page if possible. Have one for each of the following areas (we included a sample to help you get started!):
- Patient Registration
- Insurance Verification and Referrals
- Patient Balance Collections
- Appointment Scheduling
- Patient Complaints

- Patient Care Calls
Everything else should be addressed in the practice’s HR and compliance policies manual.
