The Affordable Care Act and Decreased Reimbursement for Providers
Healthcare providers are often faced with making serious decisions, but how to deal with The Affordable Care Act presents as one of the most serious and com-plex decisions many practic-es have ever had to make. The questions surrounding this legislation are numer-ous and not as easy to an-swer as many on both sides of the argument would have you believe.
Regardless of your political affiliation, if you work in health care, you have to come to terms with the fact that your reimbursement may go down because of the federally run insurance ex-changes and the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR). The cause of this downturn in reimbursement could be contributed to rates for insurance premiums being set too low and a significant increase in the number of baby boomers eligible for Medicare.
